Assam News Senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said BJP will form the government in Assam for the second consecutive term despite mushrooming of regional parties following the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) movement, owing to the success of its welfare schemes. He was speaking during a Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) conclave at Sivasagar in eastern Assam.
Himanta also targetted Badruddin Ajmal-led AIUDF as one of the main enemies of the Assamese community.“In 2021, BJP will form the government in Assam with 100 seats. I have no doubt. The new regional parties that have been formed in Assam are saying that they will go to the doorsteps of families, but BJP trusts in winning the hearts of the people,” he said.
Himanta said the upcoming assembly polls will be above garnering votes and it’s going to be an ideological battle with those who tried to corner the BJP-led government during the anti-CAA agitation.“In Assam, we have to resist (the aggressive infiltrators) with the tribals, the mainstream Assamese population and those who are living in Assam as proud Assamese after coming from various parts of the country. Together, we will have to build a wall against this aggression that has posed a threat to our civilization. For the next two years, it’s going to be a fight of two civilizations,” he asserted. Himanta, who has been targeting AIUDF by calling it a protector of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, alleged that Congress had surrendered before the AIUDF ahead of the assembly polls for the sake of power. “Today, we have marched ahead in the fight of civilizations. That’s why a party such as Congress has been compelled to surrender before AIUDF and is going for an alliance ahead of next year’s assembly polls,” he said.
