Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday called Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to enquire about the flood situation. As many as 950 villages in 21 districts of Assam have been affected by floods, revealed Flood Reporting and Knowledge Management System (FRIMS).
According to the info provided by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the condition is extremely bad in several districts of Assam as 950 villages in 21 districts are struck by floods triggered by heavy rainfall. Till 30 August, around 3,63,135 people were suffering from the flood situation followed by the death of two minors
Till Sunday, over 2.58 lakh people were suffering from the flood across 14 districts of the state. at the present, 950 villages are underwater and 30,333.36 hectares of crop areas are damaged across Assam, ASDMA said.
Authorities are running 44 relief camps and distribution centres in 10 districts, where 1,619 people, including 321 children
